The material itself resembles a purple butterfly with five outlines of the Mandelbrot set on its wings.

Effects[edit | edit source]

Robes[edit | edit source]

Description: Randomly boosts damage, defenses, or movement speed.

Every time this material rerolls, it grants either the Extra Damage, Defense Boost or Fast Movement status effects for 5 seconds. Rerolling occurs every 5 seconds, regardless of material count and grade. However, Sundial spells can reduce the reroll timer, allowing some overlap between the buffs granted by this material.

Note: The Extra Damage, Defense Boost or Fast Movement status effects do not stack with other sources! Materials and Artifacts that grant the same status effects may not work well with this material.
  • F Level:
Buff Strength: +10%
  • D Level:
Buff Strength: +20%
  • C Level:
Buff Strength: +30%
  • B Level:
Buff Strength: +40%
  • A Level:
Buff Strength: +50%
Note: Unlike the Owlbear Trap, the Defense Boost status effect granted by this material is limited to 100% damage reduction. This makes the material not stack well with Bibi's Chaotic Evil Ring.

Spells[edit | edit source]

Description: Randomly changes direction, increasing spellpower each time.

Each redirection will cause the projectile to turn left or right by a random angle between 0° and 60°. Damage and spellpower of the projectile is always increased by +20% for every redirection before colliding with an enemy, regardless of material count and grade.

Tip: The Crystal Ball can be used to mitigate the Chaos Butterfly's redirection effects.

By default, the redirection timer is 0.6 seconds.

  • F Level:
Redirection Timer: -0.1 seconds
  • D Level:
Redirection Timer: -0.2 seconds
  • C Level:
Redirection Timer: -0.3 seconds
  • B Level:
Redirection Timer: -0.4 seconds
  • A Level:
Redirection Timer: -0.5 seconds

The minimum redirection timer is 0.1 seconds, which can be achieved by slotting 1 Grade A Chaos Butterfly onto the spell.

Note: Damage and spellpower is not boosted on spells and wands with the Optic Lens material.
